Privacy Policy — GetDun
Effective date:April 2026 · Last updated:April 2026
GetDun helps neighbors request help and share trusted business recommendations. GetDun is intended for users in the United States. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
- We collect account info you provide (e.g., name, email/phone if you verify), content you post, approximate location for local results, a hashed device identifier and data needed for push notifications, camera/photo content you choose to upload, and diagnostics/analytics.
- We do not sell your personal data and we do not use third-party advertising SDKs.
- You control when you share contact details with other users (only after you accept a response).
Information We Collect
1) Information you provide
- Account details — name and email (and phone number if you choose to verify). If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive basic profile info from those services.
- User content — listings, titles, descriptions, tags, deadlines, photos you upload, messages/acknowledgements, reviews/ratings.
- Reports — when you report a post or user, we collect the information you submit with the report. Reports are reviewed manually by our team.
- Support requests — feedback, bug reports, and the contact info you use to reach us.
2) Information collected automatically
- Approximate location — coordinates or an area label to show nearby posts (we do not need precise background location).
- Camera and photo library — if you grant permission, we access your device’s camera and photo library only so you can capture or choose images you upload (e.g., with listings or messages).
- Device & app identifiers — a hashed device identifier for diagnostics and analytics; information used by Apple/Google as needed to deliver push notifications.
- Usage & diagnostics — crash logs, performance events, and basic analytics (e.g., screens viewed, feature usage) to improve stability and experience.
3) Information from service providers
We use trusted providers to operate the app. They process data on our behalf under their terms:
- Google Firebase — Authentication, Firestore (database), Cloud Messaging (push), Crashlytics (crash logs), Analytics/Measurement.
- Apple — Sign in with Apple, Push Notifications.
How We Use Information
- Provide core features (create listings, match locally, send notifications, show your inbox).
- Facilitate business recommendations and community reviews.
- Maintain safety, prevent abuse/fraud, and enforce our guidelines, including reviewing user-submitted reports.
- Analyze and improve performance, reliability, and usability.
- Communicate important updates about the service.
Sharing of Information
- With other users — content you post is visible to nearby users. Your phone/email are only shared when you explicitly accept a response and choose to share contact details.
- With service providers — to host, deliver, and improve the app (see providers above).
- For legal reasons — if required by law, legal process, or to protect rights, safety, or integrity of the service.
We do not sell or rent personal data. We do not use third-party advertising networks in the app.
Data Linked to You
Depending on how you use the app, the following data may be linked to your identity or device: account details (name, email/phone), user content (listings, messages, photos, reviews), reports you submit, approximate location, a hashed device identifier, data needed for push notifications, and diagnostics/usage data. We use this to deliver the service, keep it safe, and improve it.
Your Choices & Rights
- Account & content — you can delete your listings and profile info in the app.
- Delete account & data — you can delete your account and associated personal information from within the app; this removes the data we store for your account subject to limited exceptions (e.g., where retention is required by law).
- Camera & photos — grant or revoke camera access in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera; manage photo library access under Privacy & Security → Photos.
- Notifications — enable/disable in iOS Settings → Notifications.
- Location — control permissions in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services.
Retention
We keep personal data only as long as necessary to operate the service, resolve disputes, comply with legal obligations, and protect our users. When no longer needed, we delete or de-identify the data.
California and other U.S. state privacy rights
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), may apply to you. Similar laws may apply in other U.S. states depending on where you live.
Categories of personal information we collect may include: identifiers (e.g., name, email, phone if provided, account IDs, hashed device identifier); commercial information (e.g., interactions with listings or recommendations as reflected in the app); internet or other electronic network activity (e.g., app usage and diagnostics); geolocation data (approximate); audio, electronic, visual, or similar information (e.g., photos you upload); and inferences drawn from the above (e.g., preferences or approximate neighborhood context for local results).
Purposes are described in “How We Use Information” and “Sharing of Information” above. We use personal information to operate GetDun, maintain safety (including manual review of reports), improve the service, and communicate with you as described in this policy.
We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not use third-party advertising networks in the app. We do not knowingly collect “sensitive personal information” as defined under California law beyond what you voluntarily provide in content (e.g., photos); we use such information only to provide the service and as permitted by law.
Retention is described in the “Retention” section above. We keep categories only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described.
Your rights may include, where applicable by law, the right to know/access certain personal information, to correct inaccuracies, to delete personal information, and to opt out of certain processing (including sale/sharing, which we do not conduct as described above). You may delete your account and associated personal information using the in-app account deletion feature. For other requests permitted by law, you may use contact options available in the app.
We will not discriminate against you for exercising privacy rights. If we deny a verifiable request, applicable law may give you the right to appeal; use the in-app contact path identified in any denial notice or in the app’s support area.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect data, including encryption in transit and safeguards at rest. Certain sensitive fields (e.g., contact details you choose to share) are stored with additional protection.
International Transfers
Your information may be processed and stored in the United States or other countries where our providers operate. We take steps to ensure appropriate protections for such transfers.
Children’s Privacy
GetDun is intended for individuals aged 13+ (or the minimum age in your region). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the applicable age threshold. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us through the app to request deletion.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will revise the “Effective date” above and, when changes are material, we will notify you in-app or by other appropriate means.
